“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents. - Jane D Hull
This thought resonated all across Suncity School – 37D on the 6th of December. It was a joyous and memorable day celebrated by both the students and their parents, through the ‘Parent Walk-in’ under the theme of ‘Winter Wonderland’; conducted by the Grade 1 munchkins to showcase the learning process of their acquired conceptual knowledge and understanding. The true ideology of Suncity School – 37D, was reflected through the performances of the children as they strengthened the means of implementing and revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-17). The perpetual learners conducted the ‘Fundraiser’ for the underprivileged children and depicted the true meaning of ‘Joy of Giving’- as the greatest of all virtues. The fun-filled games along with the ‘Cookie Designing’, ‘Christmas Tree Décor’ and ‘Carol Singing’, brought out the real fervour of the winter celebrations. The journey of the parents, which began with the kinesthetic activities of ‘Frosty Leap’ and ‘Happy Feet’, concluded with the mirth of clicking a ‘Selfie with an Elfie’. Transversal, Interdisciplinary, and Thematic learning are the concepts that play an integral part in the learning process, and therefore the scholastic and co-scholastic subjects were evenly integrated throughout the event. The planning was in sync with the ‘Annual theme’-‘Srijan’ meaning ‘Creation’ and the monthly theme ‘Seasons and Festivals’. The event ignited the confidence in the young minds to flip their roles, where they became the teachers and the parent became the learners. Keeping ‘21st Century Skills’ in mind, the focus was concentrated on the skill-building of the children. Through the ‘Parent Walk-in’, the students honed their communication and presentation skills successfully.
