Above us, the sky was an endless expanse of velvety black with millions of glittering stars and below with us were these scintillating Suncitydiamonds shimmeringly spilled across the dark canvas to put forward for us a spectacular annual show dazzling us with its gleam.
The Suncitizens of Suncity School 37 D presented their Annual show Verve 2.0 with great elan and elegance. This extravaganza was spanned over two evenings where on the first, parents of Grades III to V and on the second evening, parents of Grades VI to X were invited. The resplendent show on both the occasions began with the lighting of the lamp and chanting of the shlokas in devotion to propitiation of the Almighty above.
On the first evening, initiating the proceedings further, a warm welcome was extended by the school Principal Ms GuneetOhrito the honourable Chief Guest Pandit Subhendra Rao, composer and sitar player, a protégé of Pandit Ravi Shankar and other eminent guests Ms Aditi Misra, Director Principal of Delhi Public group of Schools, Mr. Devendra Jhajharia, member of Suncity governing body, winner of two gold medals in Paralympics and Padma Bhushan awardee. On the second evening, Shri Sandeep Singh, honourable Sports Minister of Haryana was ceremonially received and welcomed. He in his address to the distinguished gathering motivated all with his inspirational words.
The cultural extravaganza on both the evenings began with introduction of the school’s annual theme ‘Srijan: Creation’ by the School Ensemble performing a composition on rains, ‘GhirGhirAayiBadariya Kali’ based on Raag Malhar whereyoung musicians played 19 instruments along with the Suncity choir. This was followed by the address of the Principal, Ms Ohriand Ms Nandini, member of Suncity Management and the prize distribution ceremony where students who brought accolades and laurels to the institution in the areas of Olympiads, School Scholarships, Writing Skills and Sports were felicitated.
The Suncity stage was set alive by a range of intrinsically motivated roles and activities presented by the young budding school actors, dancers and acrobats for the pleasure and enjoyment of their audience in an enthralling and mesmerizing play ‘Kal, Aaj aur Kal – Ek Safar’ based on the theme of ‘Time’. The play culminated with the message that there has to be ‘Srijan’, creation of a constructive and pragmatic society for all based on the ideologies of Chanakya, religious harmony as advocated by Akbar, righteous conduct and non-violence as promoted by Ashoka and valor, intrepidity and strength as shown by our freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh.
The viewers mesmerized by the spell binding performances of the young Suncitizens watched the show in rapt attention as the play drew to an end with a grand Finale. The audience rose to a loud cheer as the Curtain Call brought the much appreciated event to a close. A vote of thanks was delivered by the School Captains Shambhavi Bharadwaj and Palaksh Srivastava and the National Anthem brought an apt closure to the evening.
