International Dot Day is celebrated on September 15th every year to encourage self-discovery and creativity, while helping people see the impact they can make and imagine their future.
Grade 5 Suncitizens explored a special art technique using dots in their visual art class to celebrate this day. They worked on a fun and creative project where they made a monsoon landscape using only dots. Through this activity, students expressed themselves artistically and learned several important skills.
They developed patience by taking the time to carefully create detailed artwork. They improved their pen handling and fine motor skills by making precise dots. By working within a set time, they learned about time management and staying focused on their task. Creating dot art also helped them pay close attention to details and encouraged creative thinking as they imagined and represented a monsoon scene using dots.
Through this project, students also learned about the monsoon weather and how it changes the environment. This activity not only boosted their artistic skills but also taught them practical life skills like patience, focus, and creativity.
