Suncity School 37D recently hosted Mr. Krishnan and Mr. Rajiv, co-founders of Makara Books, for an immersive storytelling session with Grades VI-VIII. Firmly stepping away from the traditional lens of mythology, the 1-hour-long minute engagement focused on the rich cultural and geographical realities of Indian Itihas.
The event commenced with an insightful interview conducted by our MYP students, a conversation that will soon be featured in the school newsletter. Following this engaging dialogue, the authors anchored the session in the recent observance of Mohini Ekadashi on May 11, transitioning directly into the profound significance of the Dashavatar. This established a strong foundation for an interdisciplinary narrative that mapped lesser-known regional tales to their corresponding historical and geographical contexts.
During an interactive Q&A, the authors detailed their pedagogical approach to writing, anchoring narratives in life skills prior to character development, and emphasized three foundational habits for aspiring leaders: reading physical books, extensive travel and active engagement with nature.
Culminating with a showcase of their StoryArt and Untold Tales series, Makara Books extended a highly actionable opportunity to our student body: a call for manuscript submissions via their website, offering our young writers a direct pathway to publication
